Wrapping up Loose Ends Is Good For Business
2009 Went Bye Bye So Darn Fast…
I had so much things to finish up for the year. I am just now getting caught up. A lot of people have been sending me e-mails and calling on my phone to check on me. It’s nice to know that I am missed when I disappear for awhile, thanks to all who checked in on me.
So, this is my first blog post for the New Year! Which brings me to the topic of this post. Today I want to talk a little bit about stickativity. Yeah, it’s not a real word, I think I picked it up from Zig Ziglar.
I think the biggest problem I see when it comes to home business is people tend to not stick things out. It seems like everyone is always looking for an easier solution, blaming the company, the product or the compensation plan. Usually, none of these things are the real problem.
The Moral Of The Story
It reminds me of something I read in the book by Napoleon Hill called Think and Grow Rich about a guy named Barnes. What happened was that he purchased a whole bunch of mining equipment and some land with mineral rights etc. He started a mining operation and worked it for awhile. He was in search of the gold that he thought was in the area.
After spending a ton of money and time he gave up. He sold everything for a very cheap price. What happened was the new owner of the mine hired a surveyor to do some research on the area. Guess what happened?
Barnes was only 3 Feet from the gold when he threw in the towel! 3 feet! The guy who picked up the mine and equipment for a steal was now ridiculously wealthy!
Marketing is the same way. I will use traffic exchanges as an internet marketing example. Most new internet marketers have tried using a traffic exchange like TrafficSwarm before, many will tell you that they are a waste of time.
This is totally not true. Yes, it can be time consuming AT FIRST. What happens when you apply a little bit of leverage to your traffic exchange account?
Maybe your not sure what I am talking about, that’s ok. Let me break it down for you.
If you are all by yourself clicking on other ads to get free traffic from other people doing the same thing it can seem like a huge waste of time. The conversions can be low if you are not advertising what those other “surfers” are interested in.
Know Your Prospect
You know who your audience is, they are people that usually have a small advertising budget or none at all. They are looking to get more traffic to their websites. The people there are surfing the traffic exchanges for the very same reason you might have tried it. They are looking for free and low cost methods to drive traffic to their own websites.
What To Offer
How about other Free traffic generation methods? Do you think these people might have an interest in doing more of what they are already doing? Of course they do!
There are literally hundreds of Free traffic exchanges, in my testing Traffic Swarm has had the best conversions for a low cost product (between 7 and 10 dollars). So what I do is I pick a 10 dollar product, I will use GDI as an example.
It’s a 10 dollar product that newbies tend to have an interest in. Then, I create or find a sales page that I like, I never want to lead with something that costs money on a free traffic exchange, so for this instance I might use something like this page http://www.reallyworkfromhome.ws which basically promotes the benefits of GDI and gives some simple solutions on how to promote it for FREE.
How To Create Leverage Out Of The Situation
I simply place one ad for the above website on TrafficSwarm. As I discussed above, gaining the amount of credits to be successful is now the challenge. You can only click on one ad every 20 seconds. It takes a bit of time to build the credits you need (my testing has shown if you don’t have at least 15,000 credits your not going to have much results).
So, how do you get that many credits fairly quickly?
Well, of course you click BUT you need to leverage your time and other people. So, I would go and pick 3-4 other free traffic exchanges. I am not going to promote my website on those traffic exchanges. I am going to promote my MAIN traffic exchange which happens to be TrafficSwarm!
With tabbed browsing, I have 20 seconds before I can click another ad. I open several browser windows, and click the first one, go to the next one and click, so on and so forth. By the time I have clicked on 4 different traffic exchanges I can click the next ad on TrafficSwarm. I am quadrupling my traffic exchange efforts and building Referrals to TrafficSwarm at the same time!
Results
Now I have several strangers as referrals clicking on ads which are building my ad share on my main traffic exchange. Other people are doing the clicking! Now I am using leverage to build my business. You hear all the time that auto pilot myth. Well, it is true and not true at the same time. It takes a long time and a ton of referrals for it to completely run itself. Why would you quit doing your part anyhow? The more you stick to it, the more results you will have.
I only used this illustration as one of the MANY possible examples. Whenever you hear someone else say “I tried that once and it didn’t work” keep in mind that is the sign of a QUITTER. It is not that the method did not work, it means the person giving you that false information may have not had the stickativity to stick something out until THEY figured out how to make it work!
If you found this article useful or it inspired some new ideas I would love to hear your comments. I have made it possible for you to comment in the method of your choice below. Hi Scott,
You are so right about sticking it out. No one should expect to succeed when they quit. I mean, take a look at some of the top athletes! You don’t get there by quitting, you get there by sticking it out. Same for any job a person is with, they certainly aren’t going anywhere in the company by switching jobs every few months.
Why would anyone think this industry would be any different?
I’m curious about some of the things you mentioned, so I’ll have to look into them.
Thanks for a great read Scott!
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
